  • Sperm chromatin structure assay principle

Acid denaturation followed by acridine orange staining: intact double-stranded DNA fluoresces green and fragmented single-stranded DNA fluoresces red under 488 nm excitation.

  • Fast

About 7 to 10 minutes per test with a pre-set flow cytometry programme.

  • Large sample per test

At least 5,000 sperm are analysed per sample; repeatability CV ≤ 6% and reproducibility CV ≤ 10%.

  • No liquid nitrogen

    A sperm preservation reagent allows storage at 2 to 8 °C for up to 72 hours, −20 °C for 7 days or −80 °C for 30 days.

Targets

  • DNA Fragmentation Index (DFI): percentage of sperm with detectable DNA damage
  • High DNA Stainability (HDS): percentage of sperm with immature chromatin

Intended use

  • Unexplained infertility
  • Persistent infertility even after treatment of the female partner
  • Couples considering IUI, IVF or ICSI
  • Recurrent miscarriage or early pregnancy loss
  • Men over 40, men who smoke, or men taking certain prescription medicines that can affect sperm
  • Men treated for cancer, exposed to toxic agents or who have had a urinary tract infection
  • Men considering varicocele repair
