On 25 February 2026, the Vietnam Journal of Science and Technology, volume 68, issue 2, published research on the safety of the Bacillus subtilis strain Eramic 26 for use in probiotic production. The authors are Đoàn Thị Thùy Linh, Đào Gia Bách, Lưu Thị Thủy Ngân, Ngô Bá Bình, Hoàng Thị Thanh Hoa, Nguyễn Vũ Trung and Lê Thị Hội.
Following FDA and EFSA guidance for Generally Recognised as Safe strains, the study tested antibacterial activity against five indicator organisms, haemolysis and cytotoxicity in HT-29 and Vero cells, and screened the genome for virulence and antibiotic resistance determinants. The authors conclude that Eramic 26 is a safe strain with strong potential for application in probiotic production.
